Golden
Gloves Rules©
A brief introduction to the alternative code of boxing where
the focus is on:
Point Scoring Skills
The
Golden Gloves
code is determined by the
'Excessive Punching Rule'©
A punch thrown by a boxer that would make the opponent lose
defence capability is classed 'Excessive'
A boxer throwing a punch deemed 'Excessive' is
penalised on the point scoring system and may also be
disqualified from the contest
Competition bouts are either Group 1 or Group 2 contests as
determined by experience, age, and weight differences of
competitors
In Group 1 contests the 'Excessive Punching Rule' only applies
to punches thrown at the head of an opponent
In Group 2 contests the 'Excessive Punching Rule' applies to
both head and body punches.
